Our mission at Lay Your Head Here is to provide honest and unbiased traveler reviews of the hotels we’ve stayed at over the past ten years of traveling together. We also accept reviews from other travelers, so if you’re interested in submitting something to our site, please use the contact page to get in touch.

In particular, this web site was started because we wanted to provide extra information about hotels in Taiwan. After four years of living here, we still find it a bit of a challenge to find decent accommodations that are easy to book. Finding good hotels in Taiwan can be a challenge, especially if you don’t speak Chinese or you aren’t within a major urban area.

Yes, there are pages and pages of search engine results for hotels in Taiwan, but we urge you to take a closer look. You’ll find plenty of information there for big cities like Taipei, Hualien, and Khaohsiung, but you won’t find much information for places like Chiayi or Penghu. Trust us, we know. We’ve been down this road plenty of times.

We’ve created this page for several reasons: we want to share with you some of the places we’ve stayed at, both in and out of urban areas, and we want to provide information to travelers who are looking for lodgings that go out of their way to accomodate English-speaking guests.

We’re not making money off these recommendations. We’re simply providing a list of some of the places we’ve stayed at over the years, especially in those hard-to-reach areas that are outside major urban areas.

We’ve also noticed that the information on accommodations like B&Bs, homestays, and small motels is usually quite poor and has very little to offer English-speaking guests. That doesn’t mean that these places aren’t great places to stay at. We’ve been pleasantly surprised on several occasions by the quality of care and comfort that we’ve received.
